Winnipeg, MB - Since yesterday, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) has responded to two structure fires.
McDermot Avenue
At 1:36 a.m. on Friday, January 2, 2026, WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a multi-unit residential building in the 400 block of McDermot Avenue.
At the scene, crews found heavy smoke and flames coming from the building. Firefighters started with a defensive external attack until they could move to an offensive attack. Crews declared the fire under control at 2:30 a.m.
No injuries were reported. The City of Winnipeg's Emergency Social Services team responded to the scene to provide temporary support to residents.
The fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.
Manitoba Avenue
At 6:05 a.m. on Friday, January 2, 2026, WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a residential structure in the 1900 block of Manitoba Avenue.
At the scene, firefighters found smoke and flames coming from the house. Firefighters attacked the fire and declared it under control at 7:30 a.m.
No injuries were reported. The fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.
