Recognition highlights Comcast's dedication to veterans through employment opportunities, community partnerships, and authentic storytelling
Comcast has received the Vietnam Veterans of America President's Award for our enduring support of veterans, service members, and their families.
"Comcast is proud to stand alongside organizations like the Vietnam Veterans of America in ensuring that the stories and sacrifices of those who served are never forgotten," said Mona Dexter, Comcast's Vice President of Military and Veteran Affairs.
Recognizing The Aviators
At the heart of the recognition was Xfinity's short film The Aviators, which follows four Vietnam veteran pilots who reunite after decades apart and return to the sky with the help of modern technology.
Three of the film's cast members-Jack Gillette, Jim Lloyd, and Bill Moir-received a standing ovation at the Vietnam Veterans of America National Convention in August. The moment honored both their military service and their role in helping Comcast tell their stories-and those of fellow veterans-to the world.
"Vietnam Veterans of America was pleased to recognize Comcast at our National Convention Awards Banquet for the company's remarkable efforts on behalf of veterans, service members, and their spouses," said VVA National Convention Planning Committee member Marc Leepson. "And showing The Aviators and then having three of the pilots on hand to honor was a highlight of the convention for many of us."
Spotlighting Stories of Service
Comcast leverages its platforms to honor military service and share stories that might otherwise go untold. In June, Comcast Newsmakers released the segment "50 Years After Saigon: History Comes Full Circle." This special conversation reunites Kim Delevett, who was airlifted from Vietnam as a child, with Col. Ray Beery, U.S. Air Force (Ret.), who oversaw an operation that assisted thousands of evacuees. In the same spirit as The Aviators, the discussion highlights the lasting impact of service, gives voice to sacrifice, and connects generations through powerful storytelling.
Beyond storytelling, Comcast donates millions of dollars in airtime each year to help nonprofits amplify messages about mental health resources, employment opportunities, and educational programs that provide life-changing support to veterans and military families.
A Lasting Commitment to the Military Community
Comcast's dedication to the military community extends across careers, customers, and communities. Since 2015, we've welcomed more than 21,000 veterans, National Guard and Reserve members, and military spouses into our workforce. Military customers benefit from exclusive offers that keep families connected during deployments and relocations, while our community partnerships with organizations such as Hiring Our Heroes, Wounded Warrior Project, NPower, and the USO provide pathways to meaningful careers, digital skills, and essential technology. Additionally, as part of Team UP, our national volunteer program, employees support veterans and their families all year long.
In addition to this award, Comcast has been recognized as a VETS Indexes 5 Star Employer and Military Friendly® Top 10 Company.
