NEMA President and CEO Debra Phillips applauds the introduction of the Build American Efficiency Act by U.S. Representative Tracey Mann and the Congressional Real Estate Caucus as the latest in a growing line of federal legislation to recognize the industry's Make It American™ domestic content certification program.
"Congress continues to recognize what manufacturers, federal agencies, and infrastructure stakeholders already know: Make It American™ is a trusted, practical, and independently verified solution for demonstrating domestic content compliance. This latest bipartisan legislation builds on growing momentum behind the program and reflects increasing confidence in Make It American as a reliable framework for supporting federal investment in American manufacturing and infrastructure.
"We thank Reps. Tracey Mann, Mark Alford, Lou Correa, Brittany Petterson, Brad Finstad, and Johnny Olszewski for their strong leadership. This legislation is the latest bipartisan action highlighting Make It American's role in federal procurement and infrastructure policy. From the Federal Highway Administration's recognition of the program to bipartisan amendments approved by the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee for inclusion in the BUILD America 250 Act, support for Make It American continues to grow because it provides a clear, credible, and consistent framework for verifying domestic content.
"As policymakers work to strengthen supply chains, expand domestic manufacturing, and maximize the impact of federal investments, Make It American is the leading industry-led framework for domestic content certification. Today's action demonstrates that bipartisan support for practical, market-driven compliance solutions continues to grow, creating greater certainty for manufacturers while helping ensure taxpayer dollars support American jobs and production.
"We look forward to working with Congress to continue building on this momentum."
