TRAFFIC ALERT - Sussex County - Daytime Lane Closure Hours at SR 1 and SR 16
Daytime Lane Closure Hours at SR 1 and SR 16
Milton- The Delaware Department of Transportation announces there will be new lane closure hours at SR 1 and SR 16 starting on Wednesday, October 1. SR 1 motorist can expect daytime lane closures Monday through Friday 9:00am to 3:00pm. In addition, nighttime lane closures on SR 1 are permitted all seven days a week 6:00pm to 7:00am. SR 16 motorist can expect daytime lane closures all seven days a week 9:00am to 3:00pm. In addition, nighttime lane closures on SR 16 are permitted all seven days a week 6:00pm to 7:00am.
These extended lane closure hours will continue in the off peak season until April 30. Motorist can expect to be driving in the current traffic pattern this winter. The Contractor continues to work on SR 1 northbound pavement, embankment, and bridge. The project is anticipated to be complete in Spring 2026.
Motorists are reminded to use caution in the work zone and plan for minor travel delays.
