New Single "Come" Out Now
Today (3.6), 5x Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum artist Skylar Grey announces her upcoming album, WASTED POTENTIAL, coming May 22nd.
Written by Grey and primarily produced alongside Danny Majic (G-Eazy, One Republic), the 12-track album finds Grey, who is known for her collaborations with Eminem, Dr. Dre, Macklemore, and Zedd, ready to step into a voice that is solely hers. The result is an intimate, coming-of-age story, with songs that read like diary entries from her working-class upbringing in Mazomanie, WI, now viewed with a newfound appreciation after decades of renouncing it.
With a voice like heaven and penetrating lyrics so acutely relatable - sometimes devastatingly so - you'd swear Grey came from a broken home or endured some kind of tragic childhood trauma. In reality, most of her wounds have been self-inflicted, born out of a fear that she'd waste away in her tiny Midwestern hometown, and a deep desire to get out and make a name for herself.
The songs journey through her most formative years - before she left home to follow her musical dreams in Los Angeles - exploring everything from sexuality and the thrill of taboo romances to spirituality, to the loss of self-worth and her mental health. Marrying emotional depth with undeniable hooks, WASTED POTENTIAL fuses her diverse influences into her most authentic sound yet. The result is a sonic collage that Grey describes as "bubblegrunge" - 90s and Y2K pop/grunge at its core, with singer-songwriter DNA woven throughout.

The solo album marks her first release in partnership with Casual Media Partners, where she is represented for management by Founder and CEO Heather Vassar. The partnership unites Grey's iconic songwriting legacy and unmistakable voice with Vassar's disciplined execution and history making success. Rooted in creative trust and long-term strategy, the collaboration is designed to scale Grey's artistry across music, media, film and beyond.
Today, Grey shares her flirtatious single "Come." A tongue-in-cheek double entendre, "Come" is Grey's modern-day nod to Spice Girls' "2 Become 1," further diving into the album's themes of exploring her sexuality.
Early tracks "Nirvana " and "Motivation" have already given fans a taste of WASTED POTENTIAL."Nirvana" - which transports Grey back to her childhood bedroom in the 90s - captures the album's nostalgia and authenticity. "And when I daydream about that old house, I can't believe I ever wanted to burn it down," she sings in the opening track, capturing her changed perspective on the place she once hated. "Motivation" is a look into how decades of grinding as a singer-songwriter left her longing for the sleepy town she once couldn't wait to leave.
Grey is one of the most influential voices in pop music, having collaborated with artists including Eminem, Macklemore, Jelly Roll, Rihanna, and Zedd, and lending her signature melancholy to global hits such as "Where'd You Go," "Love The Way You Lie," and "Coming Home." She has also contributed to films such as Venom 2, Aquaman, 50 Shades of Grey, and the Fast and Furious franchise. Her combined catalog has earned a staggering 19B+ total streams, plus she has a combined social following of more than 4M.
