Statement by Palazzo Chigi on European Coalition against Drugs

In the margins of the European Political Community (EPC) summit in Copenhagen, the President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, and the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, jointly launched the European Coalition against Drugs, an Italian-French initiative aimed at concretely strengthening cooperation within the EPC framework in fighting drug trafficking, including synthetic drugs, and in preventing and helping people recover from addiction.

The signatory nations, the European Commission and the Council of Europe have signed a specific document stating the operational priorities, which includes the full application of the 'follow the money' principle.

Italy and France have decided to jointly launch and support implementation of this initiative, also in light of their specific experience in this field and the strong existing cooperation between their respective competent authorities.
