Exciting progress continues at the site of Bellflower's new Oak Center. Construction began on May 1 with the demolition of the former Volunteer Center. Since then, crews have cleared and graded the site, performed soil and compaction testing, and certified the construction pad to prepare for building.
Following these initial steps, the contractor set concrete forms and completed underground utility work for plumbing and electrical systems. Underslab waterproofing and concrete rebar installation were also finished before reaching the project's first major milestone - the Mat Slab Pour, completed on Sept. 23.
Shortly after, crews reached the second major milestone with the installation of CMU (Concrete Masonry Unit) block walls. Construction has now entered the wood framing phase, marking the project's third major milestone.
