NJIT men's tennis senior delivered a strong start to his final collegiate tennis season, earning two key victories at one of the most competitive fall tournaments on the college tennis calendar.
Competing in the pre-qualifying draw of the ITA All-American Championships, Jenkins defeated two players from nationally ranked SEC programs, including teams from Kentucky and Arkansas, who were ranked No. 29 and No. 43 in the country last season, respectively. His strong performance marked a comeback after an injury-plagued 2024 season.
"This is a great start to the year for Wil," said men's tennis head coach . "Beating two SEC opponents in the first tournament of the season is fantastic. Last year, he spent most of the season injured, and to come back and get these two wins at one of the toughest tournaments in the country says a lot about the work he's been putting in. I'm very happy for him and the way he represented NJIT during this competition."
Jenkins' run came to an end in the final round of pre-qualifying against an Ohio State opponent, from a team that finished No. 6 in the country last season. Unfortunately, he was forced to retire from the match due to injury.
Despite the early exit, Jenkins' performance sets a positive tone for his senior season and highlights his determination and resilience.
