Minister of Economic Affairs Sakari Puisto will participate in the UN Climate Change Conference COP30 in Belém, Brazil on 14-15 November 2025. Minister Puisto's agenda will focus on clean energy and clean transition and Nordic cooperation. He will participate in events organised at the Finland Pavilion co-hosted by Finnish businesses, cities and research institutes.
COP30 offers an important opportunity for Finland to further strengthen cooperation with the Nordic and Latin American countries and to showcase solutions developed by Finnish industries at the Finland Pavilion," Minister of Economic Affairs Sakari Puisto says.
The EU-LAC High-Level Dialogue on Energy Transition, to be hosted by Finland and Sakari Puisto together with the European Commission at the Finland Pavilion, will discuss cooperation between Europe and the Latin American countries in clean energy supply chains and justice in the energy transition.
Minister Puisto will participate in three joint Nordic events where businesses will present practical actions towards carbon negativity in Finland and the other Nordic countries. The topics include clean energy innovations and opportunities for new industrial activities in the Nordic countries. The Minister will also host an event on the work on low-carbon roadmaps in Finland organised by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment and Confederation of Finnish Industries, where the focus will be on what the extensive work on sectoral low-carbon roadmaps done on a voluntary basis has to offer at the international level.
Minister Puisto's bilateral meetings in Belém include those with Deputy Executive Director of the International Energy Agency IEA Mary Burce Warlick and European Commissioner for Energy and Housing Dan Jorgensen.
