Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17) today condemned the Trump Administration and Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director Russ Vought for canceling $8 billion worth of Department of Energy (DOE) projects across the country, including more than $54 million in projects in Illinois' 17th Congressional District.

This reckless decision means more than $54 million in lost investment that would have created good-paying jobs, supported clean energy technology, and kept our communities competitive," said Congressman Sorensen."This isn't about saving taxpayer dollars. The funding was already approved. This is about politics, plain and simple - and our families will pay the price."
The canceled projects in IL-17 include:
Nationally, the Administration's decision affects 136 Congressional Districts across 16 states, eliminating projects that would have cut energy costs, modernized the grid, and created thousands of jobs.
