LOUISVILLE, Ky. (August 28, 2026) - Churchill Downs Incorporated (NASDAQ: CHDN) ("CDI") today announced the promotion of Jason Stoess to Vice President and General Manager of Calder Casino, effective immediately. Stoess will report to Michael Meagher, Senior Vice President of Gaming Operations.
Stoess brings 34 years of experience with Calder to the role, having served in multiple finance leadership positions throughout his career, most recently as Senior Director of Finance. A Kentucky native and graduate of the University of Kentucky with a bachelor's degree in finance, Stoess has helped guide the property through decades of growth and change. In addition to leading Calder's finance organization, he has contributed to numerous enterprise-wide initiatives across Churchill Downs Incorporated's gaming and racing operations, helping advance strategic projects and strengthen the business.
Stoess succeeds Rich Sukhu, who recently was promoted to Vice President and General Manager of Rockingham Grand Casino and Chaser's Poker Room in New Hampshire after serving as Calder's President and General Manager since 2019.
"Jason is a talented individual who has contributed meaningfully to Calder and to CDI for decades," said Michael Meagher, Senior Vice President of Gaming Operations. "I'm confident he will seamlessly step into this General Manager role, build upon the solid foundation established by Rich, and lead the team through the next chapter in its journey."
Throughout his career, Stoess has earned the respect of colleagues through his collaborative leadership style, thoughtful decision-making and unwavering commitment to Calder's long-term success. His experience extends well beyond finance, spanning major capital projects, regulatory initiatives, operational improvements and enterprise-wide business transformation, giving him a broad understanding of both the property and the organization.
"I am honored to steward Calder into its next chapter and am committed to preserving the culture, trust and investment in people that have long defined the property, while embracing new concepts and opportunities," said Stoess. "My hope is to strengthen Calder's position as a favorite source of entertainment in our community and a place where our Team Members are proud to work and build meaningful careers."
