City of Simi Valley Proposes Water Rate Adjustments

The City of Simi Valley and Ventura County Waterworks District No. 8 (City/District) are proposing adjustments to water rates to ensure continued investment in the City/District's water infrastructure and to maintain high-quality, reliable water service for residents and businesses.

To inform the community and receive feedback, the City's Public Works Department will host a community meeting on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at Simi Valley City Hall, 2929 Tapo Canyon Road. The meeting will include an overview of the Water Enterprise Program, outlining how the proposed rate structure will fund critical system upgrades, such as water main replacements, pump station improvements, and facility rehabilitation.

The proposed rates will increase by 3.5% each year for the next five years. For the first year (effective January 1, 2026), rates will vary slightly by customer class. In subsequent years, rates for all customers will increase by 3.5% annually. These adjustments are necessary to address rising operational costs, replace aging infrastructure, and ensure the long-term sustainability of Simi Valley's water system, while keeping rates comparable to those of similar regional agencies.

Residents and property owners can also share their views at a public hearing on Monday, November 17, 2025, when the City Council will consider the proposed adjustments.

Proposition 218 Notification will be mailed to all ratepayers by the end of September, with additional details on the proposal and public hearing process.

Residents and property owners will also have the opportunity to provide input at a public hearing on Monday, November 17, 2025, when the City Council will consider the proposed adjustments.

A Proposition 218 notice will be mailed to all ratepayers by the end of September with additional details on the proposal and public hearing process.
