Washington, D.C. - U.S. Senator Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) issued the following statement after the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced it had lifted the temporary closure of airspace over El Paso, after earlier stating the closure would last 10 days:
"El Paso airspace has been reopened, and commercial and non-commercial flights have resumed. Keeping our communities informed and safe is critical. I'm demanding answers from the FAA and the administration about why the airspace was closed in the first place without notifying appropriate officials, leaving travelers to deal with unnecessary chaos."
