Minister of Foreign Affairs

Republic of China (Taiwan)

April 8, 2026

(As Prepared for Delivery)

Honorable Ministers and Senators;

Traditional leaders;

Distinguished members of the business community;

Esteemed guests;

Ladies and gentlemen:

Good morning! Iakwe aolep!

I am delighted to join you for this important event to promote trade and investment.

Last year's seminar in Taipei was a resounding success. Building on this momentum, I am heading a delegation with representatives from a variety of sectors in Taiwan. Hailing from such industries as aviation, tourism, energy, fisheries, food processing, and health care, these business leaders have come to the Marshall Islands to explore mutually beneficial investment opportunities.

The Marshall Islands is known for its rich marine resources. And there is great potential for bilateral collaboration in emerging sectors, including tourism, agriculture, and trade services. Moreover, the Taiwan-Marshall Islands economic cooperation agreement, which entered into force last January, provides a solid framework to further investment, trade, and joint ventures.

The Taiwan government works with small and medium-sized businesses to leverage their strengths. By combining government resources, private sector participation, and technological innovation, we implement practical projects that address structural challenges, foster sustainable economic development, and bolster bilateral ties.

Our two countries have long enjoyed steadfast diplomatic relations founded on shared values. Taiwan looks forward to steadily deepening this important friendship as we strive together to promote peace and prosperity in the region.

I wish this seminar every success. Thank you! Kommol tata!
