Buckeye police investigate homicide

BUCKEYE, AZ (August 27, 2026): A man is in custody after an overnight double-shooting that left a father dead in Sienna Hills.

Just before 1 a.m. this morning, Buckeye police received reports of shots fired at a home near Sienna Hills Pkwy and McDowell Rd. A Buckeye Police Sergeant who just went off duty and was in uniform driving a marked patrol car, was down the street when the call came out. She arrived on scene and had a suspect, a man in his 20s, detained within minutes.

Additional arriving officers located a 17-year-old girl with gunshot injuries. They treated the girl's wounds until medics arrived to take over. The teen is currently hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Officers then located a man inside the home with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced deceased on scene. He is described as a man in his 30s who is the father of the injured teen.

Investigators learned all parties involved live at the home. An argument occurred and that's when the suspect reportedly opened fire. It is unclear at this time whether the suspect is related to the victims. The investigation is ongoing.
