Revised data on trips from the survey on daily passenger mobility are published in the SiStat Database.

SHARE RELEASE:
During the review of the methodology used to calculate the number of trips, made by the residents of Slovenia aged 15-84, we found that the annual number of trips had been underestimated. Therefore, in the SiStat Database, we are publishing the revised data for 2017, 2021, and 2025. For these years, we are also publishing the revised data on the average number of trips per person per day.
1.4 billion trips made by the residents of Slovenia in 2025
Residents of Slovenia aged 15-84 made 1.41 billion trips in 2025. Three quarters of these trips were made on working days, and a quarter during weekends or public holidays (non-working days). In 2021 and 2017, when we also conducted the survey on passenger daily mobility, the residents made 1.39 billion and 1.62 billion trips, respectively.
The number of trips in 2025 was 13% lower than in the »pre-pandemic« year 2017. The number of trips made on working days decreased by 12%, and on non-working days by 14%. On the other hand, the number of trips made on working days for commuting to and from work increased by 1%.

METHODOLOGICAL NOTE
In the previous years, the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia published data on the daily number of trips, while data on passenger-kilometres and travel time were published on an annual basis. To ensure comparability across all published data, we are now publishing the revised data on the annual number of trips.
Regardless of the methodology used to calculate the data (whether based on annual or daily numbers), the relationships (shares) presented in the data by various breakdowns, such as purpose of the trip, main mode of transport, and similar categories, remain unchanged.
As a result of the updated methodology, we are also publishing revised annual data on the number of trips at the regional level, as well as for the urban municipalities Ljubljana and Maribor.

The newly calculated averages for all days do not differ from those previously published. However, the average numbers of trips per person per working day and per non-working day have been revised.
