Special Event Presented by PokerTalk: WPT Prime Taiwan Returns to CTP in January 2027

TAIPEI, Taiwan - October 2026 - WPT® Prime Taiwan will return to Taipei from January 2-11, 2027, at CTP's Asia Poker Arena. Two WPT® events are scheduled to take place in Taiwan in 2027, with the second festival scheduled for August 12-23, 2027. Presented by PokerTalk and sponsored by WPT® Global, the January festival brings the tour back to a familiar host. The name and tournament format for the event scheduled for August will be announced in due course.

The January festival will be headlined by the WPT® Prime Taiwan Championship, featuring a TWD 35,000 (~ USD 1,100) buy-in and a TWD 30 million (~ USD 1 million) guaranteed prize pool. The Championship will run from January 7-11, with the full festival taking place from January 2-11.

WPT® Prime Taiwan Returns to CTP's Asia Poker Arena

WPT® Prime Taiwan is set to return to CTP, a long-standing host of WPT® events in Taipei. The January festival will run January 2-11, 2027, and a second WPT® event is scheduled for August 12-23, 2027. The second event's name and format will be announced later.

Founded by Hsing "David" Tai, the Chinese Texas Hold'em Poker Association has helped build Taiwan's live tournament scene and welcomes local and international players to its Asia Poker Arena in Taipei's Zhongshan District. In 2024, the WPT® Prime Taiwan Championship attracted 1,666 entries at the Asia Poker Arena, a record for a WPT® Prime Championship outside of Las Vegas at the time.

The festival will take place at CTP's Asia Poker Arena in Taipei's Zhongshan District. Venue information, registration guidance and the final daily schedule will be shared ahead of the festival.

WPT® Global Sponsorship, Satellites and Packages

As the official sponsor of the January WPT® Prime Taiwan festival, WPT® Global will run online satellites at a range of buy-ins, including low-cost qualifiers. Players can win exclusive live packages for the January festival at CTP's Asia Poker Arena, giving them a chance to qualify for the trip from home.

WPT® Global also plans to bring additional player incentives, promotions and on-site activities throughout the festival, adding more ways for players to engage and participate beyond the tournament tables.
