Treasurer Stacy Garrity and Rep. JoAnne Stehr Return More than $115,000 in Unclaimed Property

Harrisburg, PA - Pennsylvania Treasurer Stacy Garrity and Rep. JoAnne Stehr (R-107) announced today that more than $115,000 in unclaimed property has been returned to the 107th legislative district, following recent unclaimed property events held at Rep. Stehr's district offices in Northumberland and Schuylkill counties.

"Returning unclaimed property to its rightful owners is one of Treasury's most important responsibilities, and working closely with our legislative partners helps us connect more Pennsylvanians with money that belongs to them. I'm grateful to work with Rep. Stehr to make sure taxpayer dollars are back where they belong - in the hands of the Pennsylvanians who earned them."

Of the $115,242.53 returned, $102,751.65 went to Northumberland County residents and entities and $12,490.88 went to those in Schuylkill County.

"Unclaimed property can be easy to overlook, but more than $115,000 was returned to residents in the 107th District through these events. That is a tremendous amount of money which is now back where it belongs, and I'm glad my office could help residents recover it. Since taking office in 2021, Treasurer Garrity has returned more than $1 billion in unclaimed property, including a record of over $334 million last year.

Treasury is working to return more than $5 billion more to its rightful owners, including over $42 million available to residents in Schuylkill and Northumberland counties. More than one in ten Pennsylvanians have unclaimed property, and the average claim is worth over $1,000.

Unclaimed property includes things like dormant bank accounts, uncashed checks, forgotten stocks and more. It can also include physical assets, such as collectible coins, jewelry and savings bonds, that most often come to Treasury as the contents of safe deposit boxes.

Anyone can search Treasury's online database at any time by visiting patreasury.gov/unclaimed-property. Pennsylvanians who have lived in other states can also search for property at MissingMoney.com for money possibly waiting across the country.
