Long Beach, CA - The City of Long Beach's Energy and Environmental Services Department invites community members to attend its first community workshop of fiscal year 2027, hosted by the Materials Management Bureau in partnership with community-based organizations through a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) grant project. The workshops help community members understand how to sort materials correctly and support citywide waste-reduction efforts.

During the workshops, participants will learn what belongs in trash, organics and recycling carts, why proper sorting matters, and how everyday habits can reduce contamination and improve overall waste diversion. Workshops are offered at no cost and are designed to provide practical guidance for households across Long Beach.

EPA grant funding is used to partner with local nonprofit organizations to conduct a multilingual community outreach campaign on proper cart usage, waste reduction, and recycling. The City of Long Beach was one of only 25 nationwide applicants selected through a competitive process.

The community can register for a workshop and find additional workshop dates as they become available at lbcity.info/Workshops27 or sign up for the monthly newsletter at lbcity.info/ecoguide to stay informed of upcoming dates.
