On the anniversary of the signing of the Violence Against Women Act, DNC Chair Ken Martin released the following statement:
"American women are safer from sexual assault, stalking, and domestic violence because of the Violence Against Women Act. For over three decades, Democrats have fought to strengthen and expand this critical law - from closing dangerous loopholes to launching a national plan to end gender-based violence. In 2021, Democrats secured record funding to support survivors and invest in prevention programs across the country.
"Amid ongoing threats to this progress, Democrats will continue to protect VAWA - because every survivor deserves safety, support, and justice."
