VIDEO RELEASE: ICYMI Senator Moody Lambasts Democrats Over Continued DHS Shutdown

WASHINGTON, D.C.-Senator Ashley Moody this week took to the Senate Floor to demand Democrats stop their partisan antics and end the shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security.

"We are now in week six of the ongoing DHS Shutdown because my Democrat colleagues want wide open borders and no deportations of anyone, period. They are furious that President Trump has closed the border and is now working to dig our nation out of the dangerous situation that Biden left us in. These Democrats are willing to jeopardize the safety of the American people at a time when we know Biden has released many on the terrorist watch list into our country and we are in a conflict with a regime that has vowed to destroy us. For the security of our country, we have to end the DHS shutdown," said Senator Ashley Moody.

BACKGROUND:

• America is safer today than under the previous administration-under President Trump, DHS has provided the most secure border in American history.
• Under Biden, approximately 85% of illegal immigrants apprehended at the border were released-under President Trump, the catch-and-release policy ended on Day One.
• One report found that Biden allowed 18,000 known or suspected terrorists in the United States through the open border, increasing threats to our national security. DHS, under President Trump, is making huge progress in removing suspecting terrorists and arresting special interest aliens.
• Under President Trump, DHS and the Department of Health and Human Services have located 145,000 unaccompanied children that the Biden administration lost.
