NAMPA - The Idaho Transportation Department will implement a new traffic configuration on Karcher Road (State Highway 55) at Lake Avenue on Thursday, June 11.
Crews will begin shifting lanes at 10 p.m. Drivers can expect lane closures, and flaggers will direct traffic through the work zone until the new traffic pattern is established. Once the new traffic pattern is in place, one lane will be open in each direction with dedicated left-turn lanes.
"Please use caution when driving through work zones with shifting traffic patterns on SH-55," Justin Wolf, ITD project manager said. "Driving safely and patiently will help prevent crashes and reduce congestion in the work zone."
Additional traffic shifts and pedestrian detours will occur at Middleton Road and Indiana Avenue later this summer.
Construction will widen Karcher Road to five lanes, with two travel lanes in each direction and dedicated turn lanes at major intersections. The project also includes wider shoulders, detached side paths, a pedestrian undercrossing near Vallivue Middle School and a center median from Middleton Road to 10th Avenue. Construction is expected to be completed in 2028.
