ORANGE, Conn. - January 12, 2026 - Today, United Illuminating (UI), Connecticut Natural Gas (CNG), and Southern Connecticut Gas (SCG), subsidiaries of Avangrid, Inc., congratulate President and CEO Frank Reynolds for being chosen as this year's Good Scout Award honoree from the Housatonic Council, Scouting America. The Valley Good Scout Award Ceremony is one of the most respected events in the Housatonic Valley, honoring leadership, character, service, and the quiet work that strengthens the community.
Reynolds began his career at SCG in 1994 as part of a rotational program for new engineers and was appointed president and CEO in 2020. He also spent 20 years in the Connecticut Army National Guard, retiring in 2004 with the rank of major. Today, Reynolds is responsible for ensuring that UI, CNG, SCG, and Berkshire Gas Company perform well operationally and financially and deliver on the promise to provide safe and reliable service. His leadership qualities of inclusion, transparency, and determination were key factors in leading the Housatonic Council to select him for the award. Reynolds has a long history of supporting Scouting, including as a past chair of the Greater New Haven Good Scout Award Reception.
"I am honored and humbled to accept this recognition from Scouting America," said Reynolds. "The values of hard work and continuous growth were instilled in me at a young age and have shaped me into the leader I am today. I am fortunate to have a passionate and dedicated team supporting me and I look forward to all of the work we will continue to do together."
This year's celebration was led by Shelton Mayor Mark Lauretti, who facilitates the annual recognition event dedicated to supporting young people, developing future leaders, and strengthening Scouting in the Housatonic Valley. Each year, the Good Scout Award is given to someone who embodies the qualities and values of Scouting America, and this year marked the 29th annual award ceremony.
"Scouting prepares young people for lives of service, leadership, and adventure. Over Frank's career with Avangrid, he's demonstrated the values we instill in more than 700 young men and women in the Housatonic Valley every day," said Joe Andreo, CEO of the Housatonic Council, Scouting America. "Frank is a role model because of his calm judgment and deep commitment to serving the communities. I've had the opportunity to see that firsthand, and the impacts he has had on the many Avangrid employees who are Scouting America volunteers."
