New policy approved and effective as of March 24

The policy below is approved and effective as of March 24, 2026. Below are the highlights of the policy:

Managing University Emergencies

  • Section 1- The University maintains a Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan and Continuity of Operations Plan.
  • Section 4- Deans and Unit Heads are responsible for maintaining department-level emergency plans and business continuity plans for their units.
  • Section 5- All employees must know the emergency preparedness plan and business continuity plan for their units.
  • Section 6- Students, faculty, and staff are required to cooperate fully with the instructions of building, program, and emergency personnel during emergency preparedness drills and actual emergencies.
  • Section 9- WWU staff at other campus locations, which may be leased space, are required to comply with emergency procedures specific to their site location and locality.
