Washington, D.C. - U.S. Rep. Juan Ciscomani has preliminarily secured nearly $4 million in federal funding for projects in Cochise and Graham counties through the Fiscal Year 2027 Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, which passed the House of Representatives today.
The legislation includes nearly $4 million in Community Project Funding for priorities in Arizona's Sixth Congressional District, supporting rural communities, agriculture, and critical local infrastructure.
The bill passed the House by a vote of 213-210 and is the second Fiscal Year 2027 appropriations bill to pass the chamber.
"As Arizona's sole appropriator in Congress, one of my top priorities is ensuring Southern Arizona's needs are reflected in the federal funding process," said Rep. Juan Ciscomani. "I'm proud to have preliminarily secured $3.9 million for projects in Cochise and Graham counties through this legislation. These investments will strengthen our rural communities, support Arizona's agriculture industry, and help ensure the long-term success of the farmers, ranchers, and local leaders who drive our economy. This is another example of delivering real results for AZ-06."
Ahead of the vote, Rep. Ciscomani welcomed representatives of the Arizona Farm Bureau to the U.S. Capitol to discuss the importance of supporting Arizona agriculture and the positive impact these investments will have on rural communities across the state.
"As a fifth-generation rancher here in Arizona, I know firsthand how crucial a strong agriculture industry is for the growth of our state and its communities," said Ben Menges of Menges Ranch in Safford. "I am extremely thankful to Representative Ciscomani for his continued commitment to Arizona farmers and ranchers. His most recent vote to pass the agriculture funding bill will further support our rural communities and the men and women who keep our agriculture industry going. Representative Ciscomani's support means families like my own are better able to keep Arizona agriculture strong."
"I am grateful to Representative Ciscomani for his efforts to secure critical funding for Graham County," said Graham County Supervisor John Howard. "Improvements to Graham County's historic courthouse will benefit our region by providing better-equipped spaces to handle court cases and serve our residents in the coming years. As a Gila Valley native, I am deeply dedicated to seeing the communities in our region thrive. The funding that Representative Ciscomani has fought for will make a world of a difference for all those who call Graham County home."
The legislation includes funding for several projects across Arizona's Sixth District fought for and advocated by Rep. Ciscomani:
Graham County Courthouse Modernization Improvements
Funding Amount: $2,000,000
This target investment will support the renovation and expansion of Graham County's historic courthouse, including the construction of new court facilities, a new Superior Court courtroom, and expanded space for the Justice of the Peace Court. These upgrades will address growing caseload demands, modernize essential public infrastructure, and ensure the county is well-positioned to serve residents for generations to come.
Huachuca City Community Fire Protection and Regional Mutual Aid Ladder Truck Acquisition Project
Funding Amount: $1,300,000
This funding will replace an aging fire engine with a new ladder truck, improving emergency response, fire suppression, and rescue capabilities across the region. The investment will enhance public safety and strengthen mutual aid operations serving Huachuca City, Sierra Vista, Fort Huachuca, Whetstone, and surrounding communities throughout Cochise County.
Fort Thomas Unified Schools Educator Recruitment and Retention Infrastructure Project
Funding Amount: $650,000
This funding will replace an aging fire engine with a new quint ladder truck featuring a 78' Viper aerial (Unit #7788), significantly strengthening fire suppression, rescue, and emergency response capabilities across the region. It will enhance mutual aid response and improve coordination among Sierra Vista, Fort Huachuca, Whetstone, and surrounding Cochise County communities, ensuring faster, more effective protection during emergencies. This investment directly improves public safety, supports first responders, and reinforces the region's overall emergency readiness.
The FY2027 Agriculture Appropriations Act works to strengthen Arizona's agricultural economy and rural communities while ensuring the safety and reliability of the nation's food supply. It supports the producers, ranchers, and rural communities that are central to Arizona's economy and way of life, while directing resources toward priorities that keep agriculture strong and sustainable across the state.
This critical legislation passes the House a week after Rep. Ciscomani hosted U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins in Marana, Arizona. See additional details HERE and HERE.
Rep. Ciscomani celebrates the legislation's passage which now moves to the next step in the legislative process by advancing to the U.S. Senate for its passage.
