WA Families Spent Over $2,000 More Because of Inflation During Trump’s First Year

WASHINGTON, DC - Today marks one year since President Trump began this term, and in that time, he has made life more expensive for American families. The Joint Economic Committee Minority released a new report today showing that Washington families spent an average of $2,008 more on everyday goods due to inflation under President Trump.

This new analysis shows that in 2025, the average Washington household spent $411 more on housing and over $496 more on transportation. Washington's price hikes were higher than the national average increase of $1,625.

"Trump repeatedly pledged that his administration would lower prices 'on Day One,' but this new data clearly shows that was one big broken promise. Trump's tariffs and congressional Republicans' economic policies mean families are paying more for essentials like food, housing, health care, transportation, and utilities, while the ultra-wealthy got a massive tax cut. Instead of sheepishly standing on the sidelines, Republicans should work with Democrats to solve this affordability crisis," said DelBene.
