In September, Idaho Policy Institute Cofounder and Associate Research Professor Vanessa Fry traveled to Washington, D.C., with Boise's
permanent supportive housing pipeline team to meet with U.S. Department of the Treasury officials and the commission on social impact partnerships. The team presented its work on Boise's permanent supportive housing pipeline, which combines permanent supportive housing with intensive case management for people experiencing long-term homelessness.
Fry leads the external evaluation, examining whether the project improves outcomes and reduces public expenditures. Supported through the social impact partnerships to pay for results act (SIPPRA), the project builds on more than a decade of work by Fry, IPI and community partners, from the initial feasibility research for new path community housing through IPI's ongoing evaluation of its outcomes and cost savings. The visit brought that local experience to national discussions about evidence-based approaches to addressing homelessness.
