WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) and John Barrasso (R-WY) applauded the Senate passage of a bipartisan resolution to commemorate the 205th anniversary of Greek Independence Day (March 25). In addition to celebrating Greece's historic role as the birthplace of democracy and its immense contributions to global society, the bipartisan resolution also recognizes the strength of the United States' enduring partnership and friendship with Greece.
"On the 205th anniversary of Greece's Independence, we celebrate Greece's history and continued leadership in protecting freedom and democracy around the world," said Senator Booker. "This bipartisan resolution recognizes our two nation's lasting partnership and cooperation on advancing peace, security, stability, democracy, and human rights, and I am proud to see it pass the Senate on such a meaningful day. I look forward to working with my colleagues to continue strengthening this important relationship."

The resolution is cosponsored by Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and U.S. Senators Cynthia Lummis (R-WY), Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), Thom Tillis (R-NC), Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), Rick Scott (R-FL), Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), Jim Justice (R-WV), Chris Coons (D-DE), Ron Johnson (R-WI), Tim Kaine (D-VA), Michael Bennet (D-CO), Jack Reed (D-RI), and Ron Wyden (D-OR).
