CABEI and ECLAC renew Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen transparency and open government in the region

Tegucigalpa, Honduras, October 8, 2025.- The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) and the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) renewed their Memorandum of Understanding, initially signed in 2022, during the 20th Meeting of the Regional Planning Council of the Latin American and Caribbean Institute for Economic and Social Planning (ILPES), held on October 2 and 3 in Brasilia.

The partnership between the two institutions has established itself as a benchmark in promoting transparency, Access to information, and open government in Latin America and the Caribbean. Among the results achieved are training activities that benefited more than 2,400 people, the promotion of open data initiatives, the co-organization of two editions of the Open State in Latin America and the Caribbean Program, and the Regional Workshop on Leadership for Openness: Co-creation and Implementation for an Open State, among other high-impact initiatives.

On October 3, within the framework of the Regional Planning Council meeting, a panel discussion was held on "Cooperation for the implementation of the governance agenda for planning and public management for sustainable development: transforming the future of Latin America and the Caribbean." In this meeting, CABEI Secretary Héctor Javier Guzmán and ECLAC Executive Secretary a.i. and ILPES Officer in Charge Javier Medina Vásquez shared the main results of this cooperation and highlighted the importance of continuing to work in a coordinated manner to generate tangible impacts in the region.

The renewal of this Memorandum reaffirms a shared vision: the conviction that cooperation between regional institutions is key to transforming realities, building public trust, and paving the way toward a more inclusive and sustainable future for Latin America and the Caribbean.
