NaTran is partnering with GRDF for the call for projects focused on the quality of gas derived from hydrothermal gasification feedstocks, launched in June 2026. This initiative thus becomes a joint call for projects addressed to the two gas network operators.
Hydrothermal gasification opens up new prospects for the treatment of certain complex feedstocks and wastes. To prepare for the future, a key challenge today is to gain a better understanding of the characteristics of the gases produced and to define the technical conditions required for potential injection into gas networks.
That is precisely the goal of this call for projects.
By joining this initiative, NaTran and GRDF are pooling their expertise as transmission and distribution network operators to support the selected projects, particularly by providing the technical knowledge required to integrate these new gases into gas infrastructure.
The projects must cover the characterisation of feedstocks, as well as that of the gases and co-products resulting from hydrothermal gasification tests using the selected technology, and the study of treatment solutions to achieve the quality required for injection into gas networks.
NaTran will notably contribute its expertise in the in-depth characterisation of gas quality, complementing the capabilities deployed by GRDF.
Through this cooperation, the two network operators aim to jointly anticipate potential changes in the gases likely to be transported in the future and to acquire the knowledge needed to prepare the networks for their potential injection, under optimal technical and safety conditions.
