GVSU named a top Midwest university by U.S. News & World Report

Grand Valley has been named a top university in the Midwest by U.S. News & World Report.

The 2027 Best Colleges rankings lists GVSU second overall for top public universities in the Midwest , and the university was the top-ranked public school in Michigan among best regional universities.

President Philomena V. Mantella said the recognition emphasizes GVSU's commitment to experiential learning and community impact.

"Grand Valley has embraced a role at the intersection of education and the public and private sectors," Mantella said. "We are proud to place our learners in experiences that go beyond the classroom. Our students are not just receiving real-world experiences, they are making meaningful contributions to West Michigan's community."

GVSU was also the top school in the state for regional university value for in-state students and the top public school in Michigan for the best value for regional universities in the Midwest.

Grand Valley received additional recognition as one of the top schools ranked as a best college for veterans among Midwest regional universities, and first in the state.

The rankings are based on 17 measures of academic quality and graduate success, including graduation and retention rates, peer assessment and student-faculty ratio.
