As the fall colors begin to transform Upstate New York into a vibrant tapestry of reds, yellows, and oranges, the Albany County Legislature awarded over $225,000 to 16 municipalities to enhance, develop, and upgrade city, town, and village-owned parks, playgrounds, and recreational facilities throughout the County.
Part of the Albany County Improvement Initiative, the Legislature partnered with the Albany County Parks & Recreation Department and the Albany County Executive's Office to distribute the funding throughout the County.

Albany County Legislature Chairwoman Joanne Cunningham said: "Each of these projects, each of these parks, are a promise and a partnership. A promise to residents that they will have access to enjoy our beautiful county not only to support their physical health, but mental as well. Plus, we are proud to partner with each of the cities, towns, and villages and provide the support they need to deliver on that promise."
Albany County Legislature Deputy Chairwoman Wanda Willingham said: "I see the joy and fun that parks create every day. I see how green spaces connect people from all walks of life. These projects make our small part of the world here in Albany County a better place for everyone."
Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy said: "Investing in parks and recreation means investing in health and wellness, and it means investing in quality of life. By awarding $225,000 to support 16 projects across our county, we are strengthening the places where families gather, children play, and neighbors come together. These projects will ensure that our parks remain vibrant, accessible, and welcoming for generations to come. I would once again like to thank Chairwoman Cunningham, Deputy Chairwoman Wanda Willingham, and Majority Leader Dennis Feeney for their partnership on this program."
