CAL FIRE CZU Plans Prescribed Pile Burn Jan. 5 in Huddart Park
Fire fuels management project to occur in park weather permitting
January 4, 2026
On Mon., Jan. 5, weather permitting, CAL FIRE CZU will conduct a fire fuels management project along the Kings Mountain Road shaded fuel break within Huddart County Park in Woodside. The Park will be open.
The single day project involves firefighters igniting 14 piles of woody debris to address the accumulation of "ladder fuels" and dead material that can fuel wildfires from the forest floor upward into the tree canopy. Removing these fuels preserves the effectiveness of this large-scale shaded fuel break, reduces the overall intensity of potential wildfire, and maintains exit routes for the community and access for first responders along Kings Mountain Road.
Smoke may be visible from Woodside and the Skyline area. The burn will only proceed if weather and air quality conditions are favorable.
