On March 26, within the framework of the 7th Global Meeting of the Mountain Partnership held in Andorra, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan, participated and delivered remarks at a panel discussion entitled "Mountains beyond borders: Ecosystem Protection, Restoration, and Sustainable Management."
In his remarks, Deputy Foreign Minister Robert Abisoghomonyan presented the efforts of the Government of Armenia, including the integration of innovative technologies and the implementation of legislative reforms designed to fortify the institutional and legal frameworks of Armenia for climate resilience.
The upcoming 17th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity, to be hosted by Armenia later this year, and the scheduled "Leaders' Summit" within its framework were touched upon. The Deputy Minister emphasized the critical importance of ensuring the inclusive participation of all stakeholders, including the scientific community, indigenous peoples and local communities in the first global review of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
The Deputy Foreign Minister noted that mountains, characterized by their resilient communities and traditional knowledge, serve as the vital nexus connecting the agendas of climate action, biodiversity protection and land restoration.
The Deputy Minister reaffirmed the commitment of Armenia to collaborating with international partners in the shared mission of preserving mountain ecosystems.
