Engineering News-Record (ENR) has named Intel's Fab 52 its Project of the Year, the highest national recognition by the leading publication in the architecture, engineering and construction industry.
Located on Intel's 600-acre Ocotillo campus in Chandler, Arizona, the $5-billion-plus facility was designed and engineered by Jacobs and delivered with builder Hoffman Construction. Completed in just three and a half years, the 2.9-million-square-foot chip fabrication plant represents a landmark achievement in advanced manufacturing.
Intel dramatically accelerated the delivery timeline for Fab 52, reprioritizing it over a parallel fabrication facility project. Already supporting both projects, Jacobs' team leveraged existing design work, design automation and its global talent and presence to fast-track Fab 52 and deliver in less than four years, meeting Intel's ambitious capital deployment goals.
The project's success demonstrates the value of long-term partnerships in the delivery of world-leading, large-scale advanced manufacturing facilities - and ENR's recognition affirms Jacobs' leadership in advanced manufacturing and semiconductor design.
