Sky Harbour Hangers Appeal: Application Withdrawn

On September 9, Sky Harbour Hangers withdrew its application for development of new private jet hangers at Hillsboro International Airport. The applicant stated it needed additional time to address comments raised by the community and Hillsboro City Council at an appeal hearing on August 18, 2026, and that it intends to resubmit.

No new application has been filed and no resubmittal date has been identified.

The withdrawal ends the City's review of Case File No. DR-044-25.

Hillsboro City Council heard two appeals of a Planning Commission decision to approve the proposal from applicant Sky Harbour Hangers on August 18. After several hours of presentations and testimony, the Council voted unanimously to extend the decision deadline with plans to deliberate and vote on the appeals at its regular meeting on October 6.

The Hillsboro Planning Commission originally approved the development request on May 27 after the proposal, which first came before the Planning Commission on April 8, was revised to eliminate the Major Adjustments to the Hillsboro Community Development Code (CDC) to reduce the front setback and required landscaping.

Authority over aircraft operations and emissions rests largely with the Federal Aviation Administration and federal law limits what a city may regulate. Some avenues may remain within those limits. The City of Hillsboro could investigate and pursue options available at the direction of Hillsboro City Council.
