Street cleaning suspended tomorrow; Please park responsibly

‍Street cleaning suspended through Thursday

‍Street cleaning will remain suspended through tomorrow (Thursday), but the City anticipates resuming street cleaning restrictions on Friday, Jan. 30, for snow removal operations in parking lanes.

The temporary street cleaning suspension allows City staff to continue to prioritize snow removal at crosswalks and bus stops, particularly near schools and senior buildings. The City will notify residents via Nixle and social media when street cleaning resumes for snow removal operations.

‍‍Keep travel lanes clear; Report untreated property

‍As residents shovel out their vehicles, please do not shovel snow onto the sidewalk, impeding pedestrian accessibility, or back into the streets.

The City and Office of Emergency Management (OEM) also remind drivers to park only in legal parking spaces, as close to the curb as possible, and ask all residents to keep travel lanes, corners, and crosswalks clear of parked and double-parked cars. This will allow first responders and emergency services to operate safely. Vehicles parked illegally, including those blocking the roadway or pedestrian areas, are subject to ticketing and towing.

City public works crews and contractors continue to remove snow on public properties and crosswalks.

Property owners are responsible for clearing snow and ice from the sidewalks, curb cuts, and curb ramps adjacent to their property. Property owners who do not do so are subject to fines between $250 and $2,000 if they do not do so. Those who wish to report any unshoveled or untreated properties, can email [email protected].‍

‍Office of Vital Statistics reopens tomorrow

‍Due to a failing HVAC system several offices in the Multi-Service Center are either remote or relocated. The Office of Vital Statistics has been temporarily relocated to the Health Office on the second floor starting on Thursday, Jan. 29. The City's Rent Control Office and Office of Senior Services will be remote until further notice. Senior programming will be cancelled until further notice.

‍Waste collection occurs tonight

‍As a reminder, waste collection will occur tonight as scheduled. Please place garbage in a container with a tight-fitting lid, next to comingled recyclables, at the curb after 7:30 p.m. in residential areas, or after 9 p.m. in the Limited Business Area. The City's contract hauler will collect both waste and recycling tonight, separately.
