The First Lady of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mehriban Aliyeva, visited the Museum of Azerbaijani Culture named after Mirza Fatali Akhundov.
Accompanying Mehriban Aliyeva at the museum were the First Lady of Georgia, Tamar Bagrationi, Georgia's Minister of Culture, Tinatin Rukhadze, her deputy, Giorgi Mirtskhulava, and the Director of the Museum of Azerbaijani Culture named after Mirza Fatali Akhundov, Leyla Aliyeva.
The visitors familiarized themselves with the history of the museum. They also toured the exhibition spaces and the Akhundov Cultural Center, where meetings exhibitions, and various cultural events are held.
The museum was inaugurated in 1982 to commemorate the 170th anniversary of the prominent Azerbaijani playwright, public figure and writer, Mirza Fatali Akhundov, in the very building where Akhundov had lived. Mirza Akhundov's work is closely connected with Georgia, and his museum serves as a cultural bridge between Georgia and Azerbaijan.
