Louisville Man Sentenced for Fentanyl Trafficking

FRANKFORT Ky. - A Louisville, Ky., man, Edward Long, 22, was sentenced on Friday to 84 months in prison by Chief U.S. District Judge David Bunning for possession with intent to distribute 400 grams or more of fentanyl.

On November 11, 2024, law enforcement conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in which Long was a passenger. During a search of the vehicle, officers located a piece of luggage that contained approximately 3 kilograms of fentanyl. Long admitted obtaining the fentanyl from a residence in Lexington, Ky., earlier that evening and that he intended to distribute the fentanyl to others.

Jason Parman, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky; Olivia Olson, Special Agent in Charge, FBI, Louisville Field Office; and Chief Bruce Gentry, Shelbyville Police Department, jointly announced the sentence.

The investigation was conducted by the FBI and Shelbyville Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Amanda Morgan and James Chapman prosecuted the case on behalf of the United States.
