St. Margaret's Hospital Guild and Versiti Blood Center of Indiana announced Dawn Haut, M.D., MPH, as the recipient of the 2026 Achievement in Medicine (AIM) Award. The AIM Award honors a physician or professional of the Eskenazi Health team who upholds the tradition of excellence in health care and recognizes an individual's achievements and contributions to continued innovation and dedication in health care.

Dr. Haut is the chief executive officer of Eskenazi Health Center, the primary care division of Eskenazi Health. Nominated for the AIM Award by several colleagues, Dr. Haut was recognized for being a fierce advocate for patients, their families, the community and for Eskenazi Health Center team members. A board-certified pediatrician with more than 30 years of clinical experience, Dr. Haut was also recognized for the impact she has had on the families she has cared for throughout her career.

"She always makes sure she connects patients with all of the resources that they need, helping them with their medical problems but also many times with different barriers they face to thrive beyond medical treatment," according to one award nomination.

The award nominations highlighted Dr. Haut's innovative and encouraging leadership. Nominators said examples of this can be seen in substantial growth sustained in primary care visits and patient satisfaction scores, as well as in establishment of practice changes that allow for high-quality care for the most medically and socially complex and vulnerable community members.

"We could not be what we are today without her vision, strategy and support," one nomination read.

Dr. Haut joined Eskenazi Health in 2002 as chief physician executive of Eskenazi Health Center Pecar and has served as CEO of Eskenazi Health Center since 2016. Eskenazi Health Center is a Federally Qualified Health Center and provides services to all regardless of ability to pay. Eskenazi Health Center is recognized as a leader in quality care at the national and state level and is also recognized for innovations related to social drivers of health, mental health integration and medical legal partnership.

Dr. Haut also serves as an associate professor of clinical pediatrics at Indiana University School of Medicine and as adjunct faculty at IU Fairbanks School of Public Health. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

AIM Award recipients are selected by a team of leaders coordinated by St. Margaret's Hospital Guild. The guild is a volunteer organization committed to raising funds for the services and programs at Eskenazi Health. Founded in 1907, the guild has raised more than $15 million for Eskenazi Health throughout the years. This is the 28th year for the AIM Awards.
