[Link]

The campus safety improvements you helped us identify are now live! Quick-build projects have launched across campus and Uptown Normal, testing the safety solutions the campus community suggested through a spring survey.

Experience the changes, then share your feedback. Each project has its own survey, linked below:

Major intersection closure creating dedicated pedestrian space
  1. Crosswalk Visibility: University Street Corridor >
Brighter crosswalk markings and improved visibility
  1. Traffic Calming: Beaufort Street at Broadway & Fell Avenue >
Intersection improvements and traffic calming measures
  1. Mid-Block Crossing: Beaufort Street & School Street >
On September 8, this one-day temporary crosswalk was installed between intersections
  1. Two-Way Bike Lane: College Avenue from School Street to Constitution Trail >
On September 4, this one-day, temporary bike lane was installed to demonstrate and improve options for on-street bicycling
  1. Intersection Improvements: Constitution Trail at Locust & Mulberry Streets >
Extensions of the sidewalk to make pedestrians more visible, shorten crosswalks, and prevent illegal parking.
  1. Pathway Education: College Avenue On-Campus Pathway >
Decals on the southern sidewalk to promote shared responsibility, safe travel behaviors, and compliance with the campus dismount zone

Your Voice Shapes What's Next

These temporary projects test what works before permanent changes are made. Your feedback directly shapes what becomes permanent. A survey focused on the driver experience is also available. Visit normalil.gov/CampusSafety to find all project surveys and learn more about the initiative.
