Belize City, Belize, May 06, 2026 (PAHO) - Through the project, "Strengthening the EMTCT Strategy with Maternal and Child Health Services (MCH)," the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MoHW) received ten all-in-one desktop computers and one video projector to strengthen maternal and child health services.

Funded by the India-UN Development Partnership Fund, through the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC), and implemented by the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO), the project supported efforts to advance progress toward eliminating mother-to-child transmission of HIV, syphilis, hepatitis B, and Chagas disease across the Caribbean.

The donated equipment will directly support frontline health services by improving data management, strengthening surveillance, and enhancing laboratory coordination, and help healthcare providers deliver more efficient, timely, and integrated care for mothers and children.

By strengthening these critical areas, progress can be sustained in countries like Belize, which have already achieved EMTCT validation, while helping other countries move closer to this milestone.

The handover underscored the importance of partnership and shared commitment to ending preventable transmission of diseases and securing a healthier future for all.
