DENVER - Today, Governor Polis made two appointments in the 6th Judicial District.
Governor Polis appointed R. Reid Stewart to the 6th Judicial District Court.The vacancy is occasioned by the retirement of the Honorable Chief Judge Jeffrey R. Wilson and is effective January 2, 2026.
Governor Polis appointed Anthony D. Edwards to the Archuleta County Court in the 6th Judicial District. The vacancy is occasioned by the appointment of the Honorable Justin P. Fay to the 6th Judicial District Court and is effective immediately.
R. Reid Stewart
Mr. Stewart is a La Plata County Court Judge in the 6th Judicial District, a position he has held since 2023. His docket consists of criminal and civil matters. Previously, he was a Deputy District Attorney in the 6th Judicial District Attorney's Office (2009-2022); Associate Attorney at the Law Office of Patrick J. Mulligan, P.C. (2002-2008); Associate Attorney at Stinnett, Thiebaud, and Remington, L.L.P. (2001-2002); and Assistant District Attorney in Kaufman County, Texas (1999-2001). Mr. Stewart earned his B.A. from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1995 and his J.D. from Texas Wesleyan School of Law in 1998.
Anthony D. Edwards
Mr. Edwards is a San Juan County Court Judge in the 6th Judicial District, a position he has held since 2014. Mr. Edwards is also an attorney at Sholler Edwards, LLC (2010-present); Municipal Judge/Liquor Licensing Hearing Officer for the Town of Silverton (2014-present); and Municipal Judge for the Town of Pagosa Springs (2022-present). His docket consists primarily of criminal matters and his private practice consists of natural resources, real estate, employment, insurance, and estate law. Mr. Edwards earned his B.S. from Capella University in 2003 and his J.D. from the University of New Mexico in 2009.
