Barr Applauds Zeldin, Trump for Approving Louisville’s RFG Withdrawal

Washington, D.C.- Today, U.S. Congressman Andy Barr (R-KY-06) credited U.S. President Donald Trump and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin for approving Louisville's withdrawal from Reformulated Gas (RFG) program. The removal will be effective on May 27, 2026.

Barr advocated directly with the Administrator for the approval of this request to benefit Sixth District businesses who do commerce in the City. Participation in the RFG program adds 20 to 25 cents per gallon of gas according to estimates from the Kentucky State Senate.

"I applaud President Trump and Administrator Zeldin for approving Louisville's withdrawal from the Reformulated Gas program," said Congressman Barr. "This is a major win for Kentucky families and small businesses who have been burdened by higher fuel costs for too long. I advocated directly with Administrator Zeldin for this commonsense change, and I'm grateful the Trump Administration came through in a big way once again for Kentucky. Lower costs, fewer mandates, and more freedom for our local economy - that's how we keep Kentucky competitive."
