Cherokee Nation celebrates culture, tradition at annual Cherokee Day

VINITA, Okla - Join Cherokee Nation for the eighth annual Cherokee Day, celebrating Cherokee culture and tradition at the Eastern Trails Museum on Sept. 13.

The family-friendly event begins at 11 a.m. with opening remarks by Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr.

"Every year we gather at the beautiful Eastern Trails Museum for our annual 'Cherokee Day' to celebrate our rich history and thriving culture," said Chief Hoskin. "We look forward to coming together each year, seeing familiar faces and recognizing the artists who dedicate their lives to the preservation of our culture."

Guests will enjoy live music from the Cherokee National Youth Choir and interactive cultural demonstrations by several Cherokee National Treasures. The event also includes hands-on activities for children, traditional games and a photo opportunity with the world's largest Cherokee basket.

Cherokee Day at Eastern Trails Museum began in 2016 at the suggestion of First Lady January Hoskin, a longtime supporter of the museum and local art and history projects.

The Eastern Trails Museum is located at 215 W. Illinois Ave. in Vinita. For more information about the Eastern Trails Museum, visit https://www.EasternTrailsMuseum.org.
