Arlington, VA - Today, FMI - The Food Industry Association applauded the passage of the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2026 (H.R. 7148) by the U.S. House of Representatives. This bipartisan funding package includes significant pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) reforms that are critical to preserving patient access to pharmacy care. FMI Chief Public Policy Officer Jennifer Hatcher offered the following statement.
"FMI thanks House leadership and pharmacy champions for prioritizing PBM reform measures on a bipartisan basis in this broader funding legislation, which reflect years of sustained work to address anticompetitive practices that have increasingly undermined the economic viability of supermarket pharmacies.
"These reforms are urgently needed, and the House has taken an important step. FMI now urges the Senate to move swiftly to pass this package and ensure these reforms become law. Patients, pharmacies and the communities they serve cannot afford further delays."
