It is with great sadness that I learned of the earthquake that hit the central Philippines, bringing about enormous suffering for so many of your people through injuries, the loss of lives and the destruction of homes.
On behalf of the House of Representatives of Japan, I would like to express our sincere sympathies and condolences for the victims, their families, and all those affected. I pray for the fast progress of your rescue operations, and the swift recovery and reconstruction of the devastated areas.
