Safety Update: Flooding in multiple streets and water issues in multiple buildings on campus from heavy rainfall

There are several water-related issues on campus stemming from increased rainfall in southeastern Wisconsin:

  • MUPD is asking the campus community to avoid the intersection of 15th and Kilbourn due to standing water. Any additional traffic disruptions on campus will be communicated via Safety Alert text.
  • Avoid driving if you are able and, if you must walk outside, avoid standing water. Follow the advice: "If you can't see the ground, turn around."
  • Facilities Planning and Management is assessing and managing water leaks in various buildings across campus as a result of heavy rains over the past few days. Several outside contractors are on site helping with cleanup and remediation.
  • Laundry facilities on campus have been particularly affected. Do not use laundry facilities with standing water on the floors.
  • Campus remains open and operational.

Report any water-related issues to MUPD via its non-emergency number, (414) 288-6800.

Additional rain is forecast for the greater Milwaukee area through the rest of the night and over the coming days. Conditions on campus will continue to be monitored.
