Sacramento - As part of ongoing work on the $511.1 million U.S. Highway 50 (US 50) Multimodal Corridor Enhancement "Fix50" Project, a 70-hour closure is scheduled this weekend, from 8 p.m., Friday, October 17 through 6 p.m., Monday, October 20.

The work will be performed on the connector from westbound Business 80/Capital City Freeway to eastbound US 50.

The connector reconstruction work involves in-depth excavation to remove the material, followed by ground improvement measures, including placing a specially treated cement base prior to asphalt paving.

Suggested Detour from Westbound Business 80/Capital City Freeway:

  • Take the connector to westbound US 50 (Exit 6A)
  • Take the off-ramp to 10th Street (Exit 4B)
  • Turn left on Riverside Boulevard/11th Street
  • Turn left on X Street
  • Take the Riverside Boulevard/11th/X Street on-ramp to eastbound US 50 on the immediate left.

The ongoing work is part of an extensive project to rehabilitate pavement and add 14 lane miles of high-occupancy lanes from the US 50/I-5 interchange to the US 50/Watt Avenue interchange.

Motorists traveling through the work zone should expect lane restrictions and be aware of commercial work vehicles traveling in and out of the area. The work zone speed limit has been reduced to 55 mph and the California Highway Patrol will be present for traffic enforcement.

For more information visit the U.S. Highway 50 Multimodal Corridor Enhancement and Rehabilitation Project on the Caltrans District 3 website.

Work is scheduled to begin as listed but subject to change due to weather, traffic incidents, availability of equipment and/or materials, or other construction-related issues.
