USD News Minute: What you need to know this week at USD

This is your USD News Minute.
Welcome back Toreros! It was an exciting weekend as hundreds of first-year and transfer students moved into campus housing. The weekend was packed with activities for the whole family. The first day of classes is Wednesday.
USD was recently recognized in the 2026 Best Colleges in America rankings, published annually by college search and enrollment company Niche. The university ranked #8 on the Best Catholic Colleges, list…it ranked #10 for Best College Food…and #23 for Best College Campus.
USD's Men's and Women's Basketball head coaches hosted NBA coaches Mike Brown, James Borrego, and David Fizdale, along with USC's Lindsay Gottlieb and Beth Burns. Each shared their expertise with local youth and high school coaches, culminating in a full-day event of presentations and insights, set against the backdrop of the brand new Basketball Performance Center.
